TJ Greeting Cards

Of all the printing we’ve done on our Windmill, these greeting cards from Australia are definitely the cutest! Jenny Mac, the creative mind behind tj stationery & gifts asked us to letterpress print these 6 unique square cards on Crane’s Lettra 100% cotton paper. Each 15cm x 15cm card is lined with an inner sheet and paired with a Kraft envelope. The cards are available for sale on her website and if you like & share her Facebook Page http://www.facebook.com/helloteejayco before Dec. 10 you will be entered in a draw to win a set of 6 cards!

Warmest Wishes!

Oh, it was so nice to wake up to a visit from the Snowman, dusted frozen white bits of fun everywhere!   Especially after a long month pounding out the seasonal letterpress work!  So, with Santa on the mind, we wanted to share a few of the Holiday projects we worked on this year.

1.  Coaster in Holiday Red ink we printed for Anick Bauer Design  http://anickbauerdesign.ca

2.  Happy Holidays card we designed for Dr. Natalie Samson (our chiropractor-every printer needs one!)

3.  Joy, Peace, Hope, Figgy Pudding! double-sided card we printed for Xquisit Communications   http://www.xquisit.ca

4.  Warmest Wishes card printed for friends of WDP

These were all so much fun to print, we used lead type, polymer, and polymer that looked like lead type!  Three different paper stocks, ink and sans ink printing, 3 different envelopes, including a new deckled flap we just ordered a bunch of, and a borrowed die to cut out the coaster (Thanks Steve at Weathervane Press!)

Of course, it wouldn’t be WDP without some hiccups, like when Ian didn’t completely clean the red ink out of the press before printing the blind pattern on Xquisit’s cards and Jenn asked “why are they all pink?”  Yup, gone into the bin.  Or when the Warmest Wishes was originally printed as “Happy Holidays” with a nice script font and a couple letters were destroyed in the press, yeah, we have no more Ps in that font….

But, letterpress is our passion and without out clients our Heidelberg would be so lonely!  So a big thank you to all of our clients and we do hope for you a Joyful Holiday and a Prosperous 2012!

Invitation to Exhibition

We are excited to be heading to Alexandria ON tomorrow night to an exhibition of work by our friend Anick Bauer.  She is a really talented graphic designer and photographer that we have worked with many times.  Her invite to the “Vernissage” was letterpress printed by us on our Heidelberg Windmill in 2 ink colours and one blind deboss.  She then had custom stamps made for the front and back of her envelopes which matched the letterpress printing so well.

If you are in the neighbourhood come by and check out the show!  (I heard there will be wine and cheese!)  If you can’t make it tomorrow, the exhibit is running through June.

For more information and a map of the area check out Anick’s Blog  http://anickbauerdesign.ca/2011/05/vernissage-il-faut-oser/

Five Colour Letterpress Train Cover

This fun print is a railway timetable cover we printed for a member of a local model train group.  The design is based on an original timetable from a village in England.  Printed in 5 colours (red, blue, black, cool gray and gold) on Crane’s Lettra 110lb in bright white.  Registration was crazy difficult for this job and the large solids meant lots of skip feeding on the Heidelberg!

If you have a project that you think is too crazy for letterpress-give us a shout for a quote you might be surprised!
